A little more info on why St. Elmo's Fire was filmed at Maryland: http://www.fast-rewind.com/locations_elmos.htm Apparently Georgetown objected to the pre-marital sex scenes. I think MD has a prettier campus anyway so it all worked out. I was in graduate business school at the time and had no clue the filming was going on. When I saw the movie I was totally bummed that I had missed an opportunity to see Rob Lowe in person. Ah youth.....
