Great article! My writing life changed when I bought my Kaypro I in the late eighties. I don't think I could have finished my first novel without it. I probably would have given up in disgust midway through revisions. Word processing enabled me to type once, then revise over and over without exploding with frustration at every typo. My first book, The Silver Kiss, came out in 1992.
